Session 7A: Grid Transformation
Presentation of our successful project at Raglan Mine, Northern Quebec, Canadian Arctic, a world first integration of flywheel, electrolyser, fuel cell and battery in one system coupled with wind power and reciprocating engines (16 MW) to provide a stable source of electricity off grid for the mine operation in a remote and harsh environment up. We present how to overcome critical technical challenges; lesson learned about energy storage performance limitations when operating within a microgrid. We discuss the microgrid controller solution that we have developed to guarantee the grid stability. We discuss how we are porting this architecture to provide high renewable power integration for remote communities.
