Mr. Bennett has more than 33 years of experience in the electricity distribution industry in the areas of distribution system planning, design, construction and operation. He has also been a member of the management negotiating team for Collective Agreement negotiations in 2004 and 2013. And played a key role in the utility Rate Applications of 2006, 2008, 2012 and working now on the submission for 2015.
Prior to the creation of Hydro Ottawa, Mr. Bennett spearheaded Ottawa Hydro's introduction of change management in preparation for the new electricity industry market.
Bill holds an Honours bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Queen’s University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, and is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Bill's has four children, and enjoyed many years coaching a variety of sports including hockey, baseball, and football. His eldest daughter has just completed Osgoode Law School, and played varsity hockey while doing her undergrad at Queen's. He oldest son, an avid outdoorsman, is finishing an Actuarial Science degree at the University of Calgary. Another daughter is finishing 4th year at Concordia and is a women's rugby all-star. And his youngest son started at Canisius College in Buffalo in the fall of 2014 on a NCAA Div 1 men's hockey scholarship.
